2007 Rose City Showcase Media Alert

MEDIA ALERT PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

THE FIFTH ANNUAL adidas ROSE CITY SHOWCASE KICKS OFF FRIDAY AT GRANT HIGH SCHOOL

adidas and Courtside Entertainment present grassroots basketball at its finest!

Before Dwight Howard became an NBA All-Star, before Josh Smith and Gerald Green won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and before O.J. Mayo, Michael Beasley, and Kevin Love all became McDonald's All-Americans, they all had one thing in common - they participated in the adidas Rose City Showcase. Now in its fifth year, the Showcase will once again serve as the host to the nation's top grassroots basketball players and future college and NBA stars.

For the first time, the aRCS will kick off in resounding fashion in 2007 with the "Clash of the Classes" - an all-star event featuring the top players in the country from the Classes of 2008 and 2009. Pitting the rising seniors versus the rising juniors, the game promises to give the next great college and NBA stars the chance to make their mark. 2008's best such as Jrue Holiday, B.J. Mullens, and Tyreke Evans will face off against 2009's elite such as Derrick Favors, Dexter Strickland, and Lance Stephenson in what should be a matchup of epic proportions.

Following the "Clash of the Classes", the aRCS will get started on Saturday in what should once again be the year's greatest collection of prep talent in a single gym. Nationally ranked teams such as Indiana Elite (In..), Pump N Run (Calif.), Atlanta Celtics (Ga.), Oakland Soldiers (Calif.), Cleveland Basketball Club (Ohio), and the Northwest will be well represented by Rotary Select of Seattle, Friends of Hoop Seattle and Portland's own Team Jones. All will try to win three games within 48 hours to capture the 2007 aRCS title.

Previous participants in the adidas Rose City Showcase have included the likes of current NBA players Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Josh Smith (Atlanta Hawks), Marvin Williams (Atlanta Hawks), Martell Webster (Portland Trailblazers), and Gerald Green (Boston Celtics).

In addition, other ”A” list of current and future college stars who have played in the event include: O.J. Mayo (USC), Bill Walker (Kansas State), Michael Beasley (Kansas State), Austin Freeman (Georgetown), Senario Hillman (Alabama), James Harden (Arizona State), Randolph Morris (Kentucky), Brandon Rush (Kansas), Mario Chalmers (Kansas), Micah Downs (Kansas), Brandon Costner (NC State), Marshall Brown (Missouri), Gerald Henderson (Duke), Wayne Ellington (North Carolina), Dominic Waters (Hawaii/Portland State), Javaris Crittendon (Georgia Tech), Josh Heytvelt (Gonzaga), Mike Mercer
